Hit-and-run driver held for photo journalist's death

Panaji, Dec 18 (UNI) The city police today claimed to have arrested a daily wage driver with state electricity department in connection with the death of photo journalist Sushant Naik in a ''hit and run'' accident case on December 3 at the posh Altinho area here.

Deputy superintendent of police Mohan Naik told reporters that police have arrested Vikas Naik (35) and seized the vehicle which was hidden in the bushes at Kadamba Plateau in Old Goa.

Angry journalists had taken out a procession yesterday to protest the ''inordinate delay'' in the investigations and had expressed doubts that the culprits were being sheilded.

Sushant Naik, working with the Marathi daily ''Goa Doot'', was the son of Doordarshan cameraman Sunil Naik. He was left lying abandoned after the accident. Some army personnel had found him and shifted him to the Goa Medical College Hospital.
