FTC confirms 2-year imprisonment to policeman in dowry case

Kancheepuram, Dec 18 (UNI) A Fast Track Court here today confirmed the two-year rigorous imprisonment sentence to of a policeman awarded by the a local court for harassing his wife in a dowry-related case.

Police said the accused Narayanasamy(35), hailing from Pudupettai village near Ekanampettai in this district got married to Thenmozhi(28)in 2004. Enraged by her husband's constant torture for dowry, Thenmozhi lodged a complaint at All-Woman police station here.

Second Judicial Magistrate Damodaran awarded two-year rigorous imprisonment to Narayanasamy. The policeman, however, appealed against the verdict at FTC.

Narayanasamy was imprisoned at Velur Central Prison, police added.
