Bangalore, Dec 18(UNI) The fifth annual 'Chitra Santhe,' a unique event aimed at providing a single platform to popularise paintings and artists will be held here on December 30.
Briefing newsmen here, Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath President T Prabhakar said over 1300 professional and amateur artists would take part in the fair in which over a lakh art enthusiasts were expected to take part on that day. Excellent collection of Mysore style traditional paintings, leather puppets and display of contemporary art pieces from various states would also be on display. Artists would also sell their works at a price affordable to all sections of people, he added saying that the last year's sales exceeded over Rs 80 lakhs in a single day.
Replying to queries he said the fair would also help educate the people effectively in art and propagate the importance of art in life and helps promote interest in visual art.
He said the Parishat would incur Rs 10 lakhs towards organising the event.
