Bamboo plantation proposal sent to Centre by Punjab govt
Chandigarh, Dec 18 (UNI) The Punjab Government has sent a Rs 74.90 crore proposal to the Central Government for plantation of bamboo plants on a large scals in the border state to improve its forest cover.
This information was given by Forest Minister Tikshan Sud during question hour by Ajit Singh Shant, who wanted to know whether the government had started a special drive for plantation of saplings in the state.
The Minister said that a proposal in the form of Mission Document for plantation of bamboo plants in a 20,000 hectare area alongwith other activities at a total cost of Rs 74.90 crore had been approved by the state level Bamboo Steering Committee under National Bamboo Mission and had been submitted to the Central Government.
