Absconding murder accused arrested by police in J

Jammu, Dec 18 (UNI) The police today arrested the absconding accused, who assigted his girlfriend in murdering her ex-boyfriend in Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir, police here said.

Police said accused, Tejinder Singh, was equally involved in executing the plan of Arti, who murdered her ex-boyfriend Vikrant Sharma near Sawan Chak in the outskirts of Kathua district on December 8.

''On specific information, we launched a hunt to arrest Tejinder Singh and this afternoon while the accused was on his way from Jammu to Kathua in a bus, he was arrested,'' Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kathua, J P Singh told UNI.

Mr Singh said during the interrogation, the accused also revealed more names, who were present at the time of the incident and were involved in the murder.

''Besides, Tejinder Singh and Arti, three more people are involved in the crime while the hunt is on to nab them as they are absconding at present,'' the SSP said.

Vikrant Sharma, who had an affair with Arti, was murdered on December 8 after when he was invited by the girl to an isolated place. The girl was arrested on December 11 after police traced phone calls received by the deceased while the absconding Tejinder Singh was arrested today.

However, Arti also jumped from the third floor yesterday when she tried to escape from the police net at District Police Lines. Her backbone and limb bone got fractured and at present she is being treated at Government Medical College Hospital, Jammu.
