3 killed as jeep plunges into canal

Lucknow, Dec 18 (UNI) Three persons died, when a speeding jeep broke through the crash barrier and fell into the Indira Canal in Gosainganj area here today.

The accident occurred this morning on Lucknow-Sultanpur highway, when the jeep coming to Lucknow fell into the canal, police said.

Two bodies, identified those of jeep driver Gauri Shankar (22) and Ubed Khan (45), had been fished out.

Search was on to trace the third body, police added.

The victims were transporting a tomato consignment to Chinhat Mandi, when the incident took place.
