170 bags rice seized

Madurai, Dec 18 (UNI) The officials of Civil Supplies Department today seized about 170 bags of rice, meant for supply through Public Distribution System (PDS), from a private rice mill here.

Official sources said the rice bags, weighing 8,500 kgm, were found stored illegally in the mill godown during a surprise raid.

The seizure was made following a tip off.

Mill owner Murugan was arrested, the sources added.
