117 polling booths shifted in HP: CEO

Shimla, Dec 18: The Election Commission has shifted the location of 117 polling booths in Himachal Pradesh to facilitate the elderly and the disabled, state's Chief Electoral Officer Manisha Nanda said.

Of the 117 booths shifted, about 50 were shifted to ground floor from the first or second floors, 35 due to the damage to those buildings where the booths existed, 20 were changed for being in another buildings and 12 auxiliary polling stations set up where the numbers of voters was more than 1,500, she said in a release here.

These polling stations are spread over 38 assembly constituencies of Shimla, Solan, Bilaspur, hamirpur, Una, Chamba, Kullu and Mandi districts of the state, she added.
