Women to get 'desi ghee' on daughter's birth

Chandigarh, Dec 17 (UNI) District Bhiwani Red Cross Society has started distributing two kg of 'desi ghee' each to the mothers of newly-born girl children as part of its campaign against female foeticide.

Over 100 such mothers have been given desi ghee under the campaign, Chairman of the District Red Cross Society T L Satya Prakash said.

He said the District Red Cross Society had launched this campaign to prevent the heinous crime of female foeticide.

Mr Satya Prakash said that by January 1 next, District Red Cross Brigades of Women and Youth would be constituted in all the villages of Bhiwani district which would disseminate the information about the various welfare activates of the Red Cross Society so that maximum number of people could avail benefits of these schemes.
