Police firing in Jammu and Kashmir

Jammu and Kashmir, 15 Dec, 2007 : One person was killed and more than five were injured as police opened fire and baton-charged to disperse an agitating group protesting the non-allotment of a degree college to Magam in Budgam district in Jammu and Kashmir on December 15th.

The residents of Magam took to the streets and blocked the Srinagar-Gulmarg road on Saturday morning after reports suggested that the town was not allotted a degree college as promised earlier by the government.
