Samman Nidhi for freedom fighters increased
Bhopal, Dec 17 (UNI) The Madhya Pradesh Government today decided to increase the Samman Nidhi for freedom fighters from Rs 4,000 to Rs 6,000.
The decision was taken at a state cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan here today.
At present, Samman Nidhi is being provided to about 1,607 freedom fighters. The increase would entail an annual expenditure of Rs 3.85 crore for the state exchequer, an official release said here.
The Chief Minister had announced to increase the Samman Nidhi at a function organised in August 2007 at Ravindra Bhawan, the release added.
