Kerala to implement Sachar report by 2008: Minister

Kozhikode, Dec 17 (UNI) The Kerala Government would implement the the Sachar Committee recommendations on reservation and other welfare measures for the minorities in the State by next year.

Talking to newspersons here, Local Self Governance Minister Paloli Mohammed Kutty, heading an expert panel to study ways and means for the implementation of the recommendations, said the Government would ensure adequate fund allocation for the purpose in the 2008-2009 Budget proposals.

Prior to that, the panel would submit its report to the Government on February 15, 2008, the Minister said.

Mr Kutty said as many as 33 eminent persons, who were deposed before the penal so far, had agreed with the Sachar Commission findings on the conditions of minorities and called for implementation of the report in toto in the State.
