Jr doctors continue stir; MIM opposes ordinance

Hyderabad, Dec 17 (UNI) Junior doctors continued their stir by boycotting duties at all government teaching hospitals even as the Andhra Pradesh Government accepted their demand by promulgating an ordinance for protection of doctors.

Speaking to newspersons here, representative of junior doctors Raju said 'the stir will continue till the ordinance order reached them and arrest of those, who attacked the junior doctors at Niloufer Children hospital on December 2 and at Nayapool Maternity hospital on December 14.

Meanwhile, the senior medicos and government doctors called off their stir after the Cabinet ratified the promulgation of an ordinance for protection of doctors from attacks at government and private hospitals in the state.

Opposing the government for approving the ordinance, the All India Mujlis-e-Itehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) leader and MP Asaduddin Owaisi, after meeting Chief Minister Y S Rajasekahra Reddy, told reporters that the doctors would indulge in 'gross misconduct' with the ratifying of the ordinance.

Demanding that all parties should spell out their stand on the ordinance, the AIMIM leader alleged that poor people were attacking the doctors due to their negligence while performing duties.
