Food Symposium to be held on December 19

Mysore, Dec17 (UNI) About 250 delegations from India and abroad will participate in a two day international symposium on'Emerging and novel Food processing technology' will be held here from December 19.

Defence Food Research Laboratory (DFRL) director Dr A S Bawa speaking to newsmen informed that the symposium would be organised in collaboration with Mcgill University Montreal, Canada and Shastri Indo-Canada Institute, Canada.

About 250 delegations representing academia, research and development are expected to take part besides 25 eminent scientists from both India and abroad. They would present lead research papers on the current development topics.

He said the symposium was the most comprehensive and ambitious undertaking on the subject of emerging technologies. It covers most of the relevant novel technologies applicable to food processing.

The symposium would also explore the most recent applications in Pulsed Electric Field (PEF), Irradiation and high pressure technologies, food microbiology and modern thermal and non thermal operations to prevent the occurence of food borne Pathogens, extend the shelf life of foods and improve the safety, quality nutritional value of various food products. It would also profile noteworthy innovations across companies, institutes and univerisites worldwide.
