ESI Health Care to set up model hospital at Gurgaon

Chandigarh, Dec 17 (UNI) Haryana Employees State Insurance (ESI) Health Care Department will set up a 100-bed model hospital at Gurgaon and an ESI dispensary would be set up at IMT Manesar.

The ESI Corporation has sanctioned Rs 20.69 crore for the construction of this hospital and also released about Rs five crore for purchase of land for construction of the dispensary.

Stating this here today, a Haryana ESI Health Care Department spokesman said the matter regarding setting up a model hospital at Gurgaon had been pending with the ESI Corporation for the last eight years.

A piece of land was purchased in Udyog Vihar, Gurgaon in the year 1998. The work to construct the model hospital was likely to start in January 2008.

He said the ESI dispensary to be set up IMT Manesar would be expandable to 50-bed ESI hospital.

A proposal to set up a Zonal Super Specialty Hospital at Faridabad had been sent to the Union Labour Ministry so as to provide modern medical facility to the insured persons of Haryana and adjoining areas of Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan.

Referring to the future plans of the department, he said that there was a plan to introduce four ESI mobile dispensaries at Karnal, Faridabad, Tohana and Gurgaon and strengthen the existing ambulance services.

Also, an ESI Ayurvedic Dispensary would be set up at Gurgaon.

He said that ambulance services were being provided to insured persons and the members of their families free of cost under the ESI scheme.

At present, 14 ambulances were already functioning at all the five ESI hospitals. The State Government has accorded sanction to hire ambulances for ESI hospitals and dispensaries on contract basis at Faridabad, Gurgaon, Panipat, Sonepat and Hisar.
