Case adjourned as PP seeks time for translation of documents

Chittoor, Dec 17 (UNI) A local court today adjourned to January 23 next, hearing in the case relating to the murder of former Tamil Nadu minister and senior DMK leader T Kiruttinan.

Sessions Court judge P Durga Prasad adjourned the hearing following a submission by Public Prosecutor D Rajendra Reddy seeking time to translate the documents relating to the case to Telugu from Tamil.

The key accused in the case, M K Azhagiri, the elder son of DMK party President M Karunanidhiand Madurai Corporation Mayor P M Mannan were among the 12 accused who were present in the court.

The case was transferred to Chittoor Sessions court from Madurai after the DMK came back to power in the state, following a submission by one of the witnesses that trial would not be fair if it was heard in Tamil Nadu.

Kiruttinan was murdered in Madurai on May 20, 2003 allegedly by a gang set up by Mr Azhagiri, who was considered to be his rival in the party.
