Chitrakoot, Dec 17 (UNI) Dreaded dacoit Thokia, carrying a reward of Rs five lakh on his head, today kidnapped three Public Works Department (PWD) employees from Bhaganpur village here.
According to police, the outlaw kidnapped PWD supervisor Rambabu and his colleagues, Srichandra and Gorelal, and fled in a jeep towards the jungles.
The victims were working on an underconstruction road near Chitrakoot temple.
The PWD executive engineer has lodged an FIR in the case.
The incident has sent a shockwave in the area.
On May 22, six Special Task Force (STF) sleuths of Uttar Pradesh Police were killed in an encounter with the Thokia gang.
A day ealier on May 21, the STF had gunned down another equally dreaded brigand Dadua, whose reign of terror extended to Madhya Pradesh.
Following the elimination of Dadua, Thokia syndicate had emerged stronger in the region with the convergence of several small gangs into it.
The UP Police had already launched 'Operation Thokia' to end his terror.
