Bodies of Suspected rebels recovered in Karbi Anglong

Guwahati, Dec 17 (UNI) Two unidentified bodies, suspected to be of Karbi or ULFA militants, bearing bullet injuries were recovered from near a temple in Men Hanse village, under Borpothar police station, in Assam's Karbi Anglong district today.

Karbi Anglong Superintendent of Police A Tankha said that the villagers had heard gun shots late last night and had intimated them.

The police, along with BSF personnel, reached the spot this morning and found the bodies of unidentified teenagers.

A diary bearing the name of Akash Nath of Nahorjan, Bokakhat, was found near the bodies. As many as 15 empty cases of AK ammunition and two live rounds were also recovered from the spot.

Though the motive of the murder is not known yet, police suspect it to be the outcome of group rivalry between the Karbi Longri NC Hills Liberation Front (KLNLF) and ULFA militants operating in the area.

One of the deceased has been identified as a Karbi youth, the SP said, adding that the bodies would be kept at the Diphu police station for identification.
