BHEL to spend Rs 1,000 cr for R

Hyderabad, Dec 17 (UNI) Targeting to acquire indigenous technology in the field of Electrical Engineering in the country, the Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) would invest Rs 1,000 crore for Research and Development (R and D) in the 11th Five Year Plan, its Executive Director (R and D) S K Goyal said today.

Inaugurating an international conference on 'Vibration Engineering and Technology of Machinery', organised by Osmania University and BHEL here, Dr Goyal said BHEL had spent Rs 200 crore for R and D activities last year. Around Rs 300 crore had been earmarked for taking up research activities during the year.

"By the end of 11th plan, BHEL would spend more than Rs 1,000 crore for R and D activities", he said.

Announcing that BHEL would also set up an R and D unit for 'mechanic dynamics, noise and vibration engineering', Dr Goyal said BHEL had already adopted latest technology and the development of new technology would help to increase the exports in the field of Electrical Engineering.
