Chennai, Dec 16 (UNI) In a surprising development, Union Minister G K Vasan today met TNCC President M Krishnaswamy in the presence of AICC General Secretary and Tamil Nadu in-charge K B Krishnamurthy at a city hotel.

Though this raised many an eyebrow in Congress circles, Mr Krishnasamy told UNI the meeting was a courtesy call by Mr Vasan and no politics were discussed during it.

''Mr Vasan came to meet Mr Krishnamurthy at the hotel. I also went there for the same purpose. There Mr Vasan enquired about my health,'' he added.

''There is no political significance in the meeting and no politics has been discussed'', said Mr Krishnasamy who is still recovering from a stab injury sustained in an attack by a mob on October 30 at Ramanathapuram.

However, party sources said Mr Krishnamurthy discussed the selection of new office bearers with the two leaders during the 15-minute meeting.

The meeting assumes significance as both the leaders are coming together for the first time after the November 11 attack on State Youth Congress Chief ''Mayura'' S Jayakumar, a Vasan loyalist, allegedly by supporters of Mr Krishnasamy's son, Dr M K Vishnu Prasad.

Later at the TNCC headquarters, Mr Vasan and his supporters, including CLP leader D Sudarsanam, Party Whip Peter Alphonse and Mr Mayura Jayakumar met Mr Krishnamurthy expressed displeasure over the functioning of the present set of office bearers of the TNCC and sought its total revamp.

When asked about this, Mr Krishnasamy did not attach too much significance, saying they had been saying this for a long time.
