Tripura take 1st innings lead in Cooch Behar against Railways

Patiala, Dec 16 (UNI) The Railways were all out for 304 in the first innings, 14 runs behind Tripura's first innings total of 318 on the penultimate day of Cooch Behar Trophy (Under-19) here today at the Dhruv Pandove Cricket Stadium.

Overnight 258 for 7 in 78 overs, the Railways failed to overtake Tripura's first innings total despite a brilliant unbeaten century (156) by Prashant Awasthi.

For Tripura, P Paul and Prashant Das captured 3 wickets each, conceding 52 and 62 runs respectively. Swapna Das took 2 wickets, giving away 42 runs.

In the second innings, Tripura were 208 for 8 in 78 overs at close of play. Nirupam Sen Chowdhary scored a brilliant half century (58) which was studded with 8 glorious boundaries. Rana Datta (37) and S.Das (24) were the other run-getters.

For the Railways, Rahul Sachin bowled exceedingly well to bag 5 wickets, conceding 72 runs, while A Pandey took 2 for 54.

The match is evenly poised and if the Railways can polish off the tail quickly tomorrow, the final day of the match, it may well be on course to register a victory.
