Police officer arrested for raping minor

Agartala, Dec 16 (UNI) A police officer was arrested here for raping a minor in the lock up of Bishramganj police station, police today said.

Bishramganj Officer-in charge Gouranga Datta said here today that sub-inspector Nandan Baidya raped the minor, who was detained along with her friend, on Friday last.

Mr Datta said the accused raped the victim in front of a woman constable and reportedly had threatened not to disclose it.

Police said the tribal girl had fled away with one Subrata Deb (19) on Thursday last following a brief affair. However, police arrested the duo.

Mr Datta said further investigation was on.
