deSouza takes over as new IIAS dierctor

Shimla, Dec 16 (UNI) Professor Peter Ronald deSouza, a well known political scientist, will assume the office of Indian Institute of Advanced Study Director here tomorrow.

He succeeds Professor Bhuvan Chandel who completed her tenure on April 14, 2006.

Professor deSouza, who was a Senior Fellow at the Centre for the Study of Developing Societies, New Delhi and was coordinating the state of democracy in South Asia project besides being the Chairman, Goa Knowledge Commission, will be the tenth Director of the Institute.

Prof Niharranjan Ray, Prof V.K. Gokak, Prof S.C. Dube, Prof B.B. Lal, Prof Margaret Chatterjee, Prof J.S. Grewal, Prof Mrinal Miri, Prof V.C. Srivastava and Prof Bhuvan Chandel have also served the institutes earlier.
