China abetting naxalism in India: George

Patna, Dec 16 (UNI) Convenor of NDA and former union minister and George Fernandes today alleged that China was abetting naxalism in the country, while the Congress-led UPA government at the Centre was keeping silent.

Addressing a meeting of socialists here, Mr Fernandes said the incidents of naxal attacks across the country were on the rise as they were getting logical and financial support from China.

It was very difficult to combat the naxal activities if effective steps were not taken to plug the inflow of funds from China to the proscribed outfits in the country, he added.

''Prime Minister Manmohan Singh continues to keep stoic silence on the issue,'' Mr Fernandes said, adding that if the matter was not taken up with China soon, the internal security scenario would deteriorate further.
