Anandiben saree issue comes under scanner by MCC team

Patan, Dec 16 (UNI) Gujarat Education Minister Anandiben Patel, who is seeking re-election from Patan is facing trouble with the district election officer here taking suo motu cognisance of her alleged saree distribution in the district.

District Election Officer Viond Rao told UNI that though no specific complaint was received on the saree distribution, he had have taken suo motu cognisance of the incident and asked his Model Code of Conduct team to submit a report by today evening or by latest tomorrow morning.

Ms Patel, who is contesting from Patan constituency and seeking re-election to the Gujarat Assembly, was accused of distributing sarees to voters by the Congress, which claimed it has video proof of the episode.
