Air defence regiment celebrates raising day

Chandigarh, Dec 16 (UNI) The 25 Air Defence Regiment celebrated its 48th Raising Day somewhere in the Western Sector today.

A special Sainik Sammelan was held on the occasion which was addressed by Col Vikash Sharma, Commanding Officer of the Regiment.

On the occasion, rich tributes were paid to Gunner Ajay Minhas of the Regiment, who died while serving with 10 Rashtriya Rifles.

The Raising Day celebrations included a function at the officer's mess, a programme with the troops and their families and a Barakhana.

A large number of serving and retired officers of the Regiment attended the function.

The Regiment was raised at Deolall on December 16, 1959 and has taken part in all major operations including Op Ablaze in 1965, Op Riddle in 1965, OP Cactus Lilly in 1971, Op Trident in 1987, Op Rakshak-II, Op Vijay in 1999 and Op Parakram in 2001.

UNI
