Jammu, Dec 15 (UNI) Governor Lt Gen (retd) S K Sinha today described Jammu and Kashmir as the largest land mass and mountainous state of the country and called for a concerted effort to tap its rich resources like oil and sapphire.

Inaugurating the first ever seminar on the extended campus of Jammu University at Bhaderwah this morning, the Governor said from ages mountains have been providing sustenance and spiritual solace to the people, particularly in a mountainous rich country like India. ''the soul of India resides on mountains,'' he said, adding, ''mountains are, in fact, a source of life for the people on plains.'' Lt. Gen Sinha identified himself as the one, who has spent half his life on mountains during and after his military career and said the problems on hills are manifold- the super most being the lack of connectivity.
