Silawat wrests Sanver from BJP

Bhopal, Dec 15: Mr Tulsiram Silawat of Congress today wrested the Sanver seat from BJP defeating his close BJP rival Santosh Malaviya by 9292 votes in the December 12 Assembly byelection in Indore district of Madhya Pradesh.

Mr Silawat polled a total of 55,179 votes, while Mr Malaviya got 45,887 votes.

Ms Uma Bharti-led Bhartiya Janshakti nominee Ranjit Sonkar fared a poor third polling only 3671 votes in an 11-cornered contest. Other eight candidates were independents.

Sanver seat fell vacant following the death of state BJP minister Prakash Sonkar.
