Chennai, Dec 15 (UNI) The California based One Roof Inc, a social franchise business, which equips people with job oriented training, is planning to open 1600 centres across Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka in the next six years.
Talking to reporters here last night, its CEO Dwight Wilson said at present One Roof has ten exclusive centres in Tiruvallur and Kancheepuram districts in the state.
''We have decided to go for Franchise model and the company would open about 1000 franchise centres, mostly in Tamil Nadu, by the end of next year, including a couple of stores in Chittoor and Nellore in Andha Pradesh by the middle of the next year''.
''After Thiruvallur and Kancheepuram, we are looking at various locations in Coimbatore and Vellore'', he added.
''Our long term plan is to have 1600 franchise centres in the three southern states before expanding to other states'', he said.
One Roof Services India Private Limited CEO Ms Deepa Anandakrishnan said the One Roof Centres deliver essential services like telecentre computing, education to the rural poor through microfranchises.
''Our education offers computer-based curricula like computer literacy course including MS Word, Excel, Power Point and more.
The ten centres presently owned by One Roof in each community would train two local youth as operators to equip themselves for getting a job.
Training would be given to rural people on internet access, desk top publishing, games telephone, digital photography and different computer education classes, in addition to soft skills classes to help rural youth be employble.
