Man killed, kins injured over land-dispute

Phagwara, Dec 15 (UNI) One Villager was today brutally murdered while his brother, sister-in-law and nephew were injured with sharp-edged weapons by more than one dozen armed assailants, including women, in village Lakhpur in Phagwara sub division.

In what seemed like a land-dispute, Sohan Singh was killed by the assailants while his brother Pritam Singh, his wife Bhajan Kaur and their son Bunti were wounded.

While the body of the deceased was sent to civil hospital for postmortem examination, injured Pritam Singh was reffered to Ludhiana hospital due to his critical condition, said Senior Medical Officer Dr Kailash Kapoor, while the other two were admitted in Phagwara civil hospital.

Phagwara DSP Harkamalpreet Singh Khakh said that police had registered a case under section 302/148/149/323IPC against 12 persons but no arrests had been made so far.
