Court takes cognizance against IAS officer

Patna, Dec 15 (UNI) A local court here today took cognizance of three people, including an IAS officer, Pancham Lal, in a case of assault.

Patna First class judicial magistrate Deepak Kumar Singh took cognizance after an enquiry and hearing into the complaint filed by one Sunil Prakash Tiwary. The cognizance was taken under the various sections of the Indian Penal Code.

According to the charges, when the complainant was on his way to morning walk in Patna Zoo he was restrained and beaten up by the IAS officer and two constables Sharwan Kumar Gupta and Lal Babu Yadav on July 13,2006.
