'Consumer Awareness Campaign' to be launched in Punjab from Dec 24

Chandigarh, Dec 15 (UNI) The Punjab Government will launch a week long 'Consumer Awareness Campaign' from December 24 to 30, to make consumers, living in remote rural and far flung areas, aware about their rights.

A multi-media campaign would be launched to make consumers aware about their rights, an official spokesman here said.

Moving with a motto "Enlightened consumer is an empowered consumer", the campaign would also focus on streamlining the mechanism for redressing grievances of the consumer.

The spokesman said that campaign would focus an enlightening the consumer about various laws that protect the rights of consumers.

During the campaign, functions, meetings, rallies and exhibitions would be organized to enlighten the consumers. Educational literature, pamphlets and handbills would be distributed throughout the state.

Various seminars would be organised to highlight the judgments of various consumer fora, having direct bearing on consumers, the spokesman said.

People, especially children, would be involved in this campaign and essay competitions and declamation contests organized in schools and colleges in the state, the spokesman added.
