Chargesheet filed against Chahal in cheating case

Patiala, Dec 15 (UNI) The Punjab Police has filed a charge sheet in a case of forgery and cheating against B I S Chahal, the high profile media-advisor to former Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh, in the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate.

The chargesheet, pertaining to a case registered against him at Kotwali police station under Sections 406, 420, 506 of IPC, was filed yesterday evening.

A case under these sections was registered on a complaint of one Kanwaljit Singh of Mohali who claimed that the former media-advisor did not pay him Rs 15 lakh incurred on the installation of kitchen equipment at Chahal's private residence here. The complaint was lodged a few months ago.

The media-advisor was arrested after filing of the complaint and later got bail in this case.

The CJM court, while admitting the chargesheet, has fixed December 21 for the next hearing.

The step against Chahal follows the filing of a chargesheet against Capt Singh and 35 others by the state Vigilance Bureau at Ludhiana in the multi-crore Ludhiana City Centre scam this week.
