2 head constables die in road accident

Chennai, Dec 15: Two head constables, attached to the Gangaikondan Police Station, were killed when the two-wheeler in which they were travelling was hit by a van at Kayathar road in southern Tirunelveli district today.

Reports received here said the head constables--Kalichandran and Aiyasamy--were on their way to the DMK Youth Conference for 'bandobust' duty when the incident occurred.

The Tata van, carrying DMK volunteers, was also on its way to the conference venue when the accident took place at the Kayathar-Gangaikondan road.

While Aiyasami died on the spot, Kalichandran was rushed to a private hospital where he succumbed.
