Surface to Air missile ''Akash'' test fire from ITR

Balesore, Orissa, Dec 13 (UNI) The medium range surface to air missile ''Akash'' was successfully test fired from the Integrated Test Range(ITR) at Chandipur-on-sea, about 15 kms from here today.

According to ITR sources the missile, considered as one of the major milestone in the country's integrated guided missile development programme, was testfired at 1155 hours.

Scientists of the Defence Research Development Organisation(DRDO) and the ITR witnessed the test flight of the Akash missile having a range of 25 kms.

The missile has the advanced booster and ramjet propulsion having a multiple target of handling capability which incorporated the state of the art technology.
