Kolkata, Dec 13(UNI) The entire Opposition walked out of the West Bengal Assembly today after the Speaker disallowed discussion on the recovery of a body from Nandigram yesterday.

Speaker Hashim Abdul Halim, however, allowed the members of the Congress, Trinamool Congress and SUCI to read their separate adjournment motions on Nandigram.

In protest against his decision, the Trinamool Congress members trooped into the well shouting slogans and waving black flags. The members of the Congress and the SUCI also joined the protest.

Amid the din of vociferous protest, the Speaker asked Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee to make his statement on measures taken to give relief to the violence-hit people and restore law and order in Nandigram. The chief minister was also asked to give another statement on deployment of CRPF in the area.

Even though Mr Bhattacharjee started reading out the statement, his voice was lost in the din and nothing could be heard.

Immediately after the Speaker directed that the statement be taken as read, the Opposition staged a noisy walk-out.

Mr Halim also refused to admit an adjournment motion moved by Congress member Asit Mal on the notice issued by him barring journalists and cameramen of news channels from entering the House.

He said it was an administrative decision of the Speaker and no adjournment motion could be moved on it.
