Madurai Adheenam appeals to TN CM to fill up vacancies

Tiruchirapalli, Dec 13 (UNI) The 292nd Pontiff of Madurai Adheenam Srilasri Arunagirinatha Sri Gnanasambantha Desika Paramachariyar today appealed to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi to immediately take steps to fill up the existing vacancies in all the temples in the state.

Addressing a press conference here, he pointed out that many temples were not properly maintained due to inadequate staff strength as the vacancies were not filled up for the past several years.

Referring to ongoing contraversy over the "Rama Sethu" issue, he said the Sethusamudram Shipping Channel Project (SSCP) could be implemented by the alternative route without touching the "Rama Sethu". At any cost, the SSCP should be implemented without hurting the sentiments of Hindus.

To a question, the Pontiff said film personalities like actress Khushboo should avoid unnecessary contraversies in public places.
