Chennai, Dec 13 (UNI) Heavy to very heavy rains have been predicted over Tamil Nadu and Puducherry over the next 48 hours due a low pressure over south west bay of Sri Lanka.

Met officials told UNI here today that a low pressure over south west bay of Sri Lanka coast persists, which is well marked and likely to develop into a depression.

They said isolated heavy to very heavy rain was likely at many places over coastal Tamil Nadu and Puducherry and interior Tamil Nadu over the next 48 hours.

Fishermen have also been warned not to venture into sea.

''Strong onshore winds from North easterly direction with speed occasionally reaching 45-55 KMPH were also likely off Tamil Nadu and Puducherry coasts,'' the official said.

Nungambakkam recorded a minimum temperature of 23.8 Degrees celsius.

It is likely to decrease by a couple of degrees during the next 48 hours.
