Institute slapped to pay Rs 24.5 lakh compensation to students

Lucknow, Dec 13 (UNI) A district consumer forum in the Uttar Pradesh capital has ordered an Institute to pay compensation of Rs 24.5 lakh to students for allegedly committing forgery.

According to sources today, Bio Informatics Institute of India at Lucknow misled the students by providing them wrong information about the facilties provided by the institute. Besides, it gave the students false assurances.

The main office of the institute was at Noida, while education was imparted at their Lucknow branch.

Neha Singh, Satya Prakash Gupta and Imtiyaz had submitted Rs one lakh each for MCA, while Shipra Patel and Sayeed Ahmad had taken admission in BSC after giving Rs 1.5 lakh each as fees, sources added.

The consumer forum president O P Srivastava found the Institute was not even affiliated with any University.

The Institute has been directed to pay compensation of Rs 4.4 lakh each to Neha, Satya and Imtiyaz and Rs 5.5 lakh each to Shipra and Sayeed.
