Govt extends term of National Commission for Safai Karamcharis

New Delhi, Dec 13 (UNI) The Union Cabinet today decided to extend the term of the National Commission for Safai Karamcharis till March 31, 2009.

The Commission, headed by a Chairman, one lady member and three other members, was appointed by the UPA government to facilitate the socio-economic development of Safai Karamcharis.

The Commission's term expires on January 1 next year.

Information and Broadcasting Minister Priya Ranjan Dasmunsi told mediapersons that the cabinet also approved the continuation of the existing 32 posts in the Secretariat of the Commission till March 31, 2009.
