Elaborate security arrangments on international border areas
Jalpaiguri, Dec 13 (UNI) Security has been beefed up on the Bhutan-India international border in view of Bhutan's Upper House elections slated for December 31.
IG, North Bengal, R S Nalwa, who was on a routine inspection here, said today that the Upper House elections, which are due to begin on December 31, requires elaborate security arrangements for which the Sashastra Seema Bal forces had been posted.
Moreover, security arrangements have also been made to keep a tab over any untoward incident, keeping in view the December 15 incident four years ago, when the Kamtapur Liberation Front members were flushed out from the Indo-Bhutan border.
Security has also been tightened at the Indo-Bangla and Indo-Nepal borders to stop entry of Bhopalis from Nepal, especially in North Bengal, which is prone to infiltration by these people.
