Mumbai, Dec 13 (UNI) Adhoc Additional Sessions Judge B D Khatavkar today debarred mediapersons from covering the trial of serial killer Ravindra Kantrule, which began at Sewri court here today.

Kantrule's trial, in an alleged murder of a person on January 10 this year near Marine Drive railway station, commenced before Judge Khatavkar with the examination of two eyewitnesses and a special executive officer (SEO).

When a reporter was standing in the court to hear the examination, the judge asked him 'Tum cha kay' (What do you want?).

The reporter replied that he was a scribe and had come to cover the trial. On that, Judge Khatavkar said 'Baher barich social kama ahet, te jaun kara, courtat sagla vyavastit chaloo ahe' (There are so many social works to do outside the court, do that, court is functioning smoothly).

Thereafter, he asked the reporter to depart and instructed the court staff to close the door of the court room.
