Congress stages 'dharna' against ''slapping of false cases''

Kapurthala, Dec 13 (UNI) A large number of Congress workers today staged a dharna outside the district courts complex here to protest against the allged registration of false cases against the party workers and leaders in the state.

Addressing the dharna, Bholath Congress MLA and district Congress committee President Sukhpal Singh Khaira alleged that police was registering false cases at the behest of Akali leaders.

He cited number of examples of Bholath constituency where police had registered false cases against the congress leaders and workers.

He claimed that cases proved false on the inquiry conducted by senior police officers.

All the leaders criticised the SAD-BJP government for letting loose reign of terror against the Congress workers.

Prominent among those who addressed the dharna include Joginder Singh Mann, Gulzar Singh, Navetj Singh Cheema, all Congress leaders and Kapurthala MLA Rajbans Kaur.

Later they presented a memorandum to Deputy Commissioner.
