Badal releases special greeting card on wetland birds

Anandpur Sahib, Dec 13 (UNI) Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today released the new year's greeting card featuring the birds found in the wetland areas of Rupnagar district.

The photographs of the birds have been taken by 'Jagriti Sanstha' director Parbhat Bhatti. The card has been designed by the Rupnagar Cultural and Tourism Society, which is headed by Deputy Commissioner Ajoy Kumar Sinha.

While releasing the greeting card, Mr Badal lauded the efforts of the Society in designing the greeting card with the motive to educate the people and children about various types of birds found in the wetlands. He hoped that this step would help in promoting eco tourism in the district.

The Deputy Commissioner informed that the Society had got printed about 10,000 such greeting cards, which would be sold at a nominal price of Rs four per card. An exhibition of the photographs of the birds of the wetlands was also organised by the Jagriti Sanstha.
