Badal canvasses for BJP in HP

Solan, Dec 13 (UNI) Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today said his government will construct three roads to improve road connectivity between Punjab and Himachal Pradesh.

Addressing a public meeting at Burana, about 80 km from here, he said besides constructing three roads-Panjhaira-Bast, Kotalia-Bhawal abd Gullerwala-Guonga, his government would soon inaugurate the four lane Chandigarh-Baddi road.

Lauding former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee for announcing a special industrial package to Himachal, Mr Badal said this was leading to fast industrialisation of the industrial area of Baddi, Barotiwala and Nalagarh.

He called upon the people of the state to bring an end to monarchy in the state just as the people in the neighbouring state of Punjab had replaced a Maharaja with a democratic party.

The Punjab people had punished the previous Congress government for its misrule, he added.

Referring to the BJP's announcement of senior party leader L K Advani being named the party's prime ministerial candidate, he said while Mr Adavni would be the country's prime minister, forer state chief minister Prem Kumar Dhumal would head the Himachal Government.

The Punjab CM accused the present Congress Government of failing to live up to the expectations of the people of the state.
