Vigilance Court orders probe against MLA P J Joseph

Thrissur, Dec.12 (UNI) A local court today ordered an inquiry by the state vigilance director into alleged encroachment of land in Nadukani and Thodupuzha areas of Iddukki district by former state minister P J Joseph, MLA.

Vigilance Court Judge P Q Berkkathali ordered the investigation against Mr Joseph, who is also the chairman of the Kerala Congress (Joseph) group, a constituent of the LDF Government, while hearing a petition filed by George Vattukulam, president of 'Malayala Vedi', a non-governmental organisation.

The petioner alleged that Mr Joseph had encroached on several acres of land, including in the tribal belt, and had created illicit documents ''through influence''.
