TN: One killed in freak mishap in quarry

Chennai, Dec 12: A 25-year-old man was crushed to death and four others seriously injured when a boulder slipped from a lorry at a stone quarry at Pallavaram on the Pammal-Thiruneermalai road here last evening.

Police said the mishap occurred when the boulder, loaded on a tipper lorry with the help of a crane, slipped after its rear door accidentally opened.

Lorry driver Anbu, caught underneath the rolling boulder, was crushed to death and four others were seriously injured.

Fire force officials from Tambaram rushed to the spot, rescued the injured and admitted them to a private hospital in Tambaram.
