Hizb militant killed, live grenade seized in Kashmir

Srinagar, Dec 12 (UNI) Security forces today shot dead a Hizbul Mujahideen militant during a fierce gun-battle and seized a live hand grenade in the Kashmir valley, an official spokesman said.

Security forces killed a Hizb militant, Mohammad Arif Lone in a gunfight at Mati Gawren in Kokernag area of Anantnag district today.

The encounter erupted after a security forces' patrol was attacked by the militants, he said.

The spokesman said security forces seized a live hand grenade from a 'nullah' at Bandipora chowk in north Kashmir.

A bomb disposal squad later defused the grenade without any damage, he added.

The spokesman said security forces seized a pistol and a grenade from a vehicle during a checking at Cherkote in Kupwara district.
