CPI(M) demands recognition for ST in UT

Puducherry, Dec 12 (UNI) The Puducherry unit of the CPI(M) today staged a demonstration near the Kamaraj statue here, demanding recognition for the Scheduled Tribes in the Union Territory.

They also demanded that the 'ten kg free rice scheme' should be continued without any hindrance.

Meanwhile, the Ozhukarai Municipal Workers Union affiliated to the AITUC staged a demonstration in front of the Municipality, demanding the regularisation of daily wage workers, who had put in more than ten years of service.
