Congress criticises Govt failure to assist pilgrims

Kannur, Dec 12 (UNI) The Congress today said a People's Convention would be organised at Pathanamthitta against the Left Democratic Front Government's lackadaisical approach in providing basic facilities at Sabarimala during the pilgrimage season.

Talking to newspersons here, Pradesh Congress Committee President Ramesh Chennithala said the Government should take immediate steps for providing the facilities to the pilgrims.

Alleging that the income at Sabarimala had decreased, Mr Chennithala said shortage of Aravana Prasadams was found for the first time.

The PCC President also criticised Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan for the political clashes here. A large number of people had participated in the 'Shanthiyatra' organised by the party, he added.
